The attic wall...a work in progress

The attic is still a work in progress at our home as we are working on the outside grounds now the weather is starting to get better but the back wall has been bothering me for sometime now. Since the attic has been made into 'the boys hang out' I wanted to have a bar going across the back wall. I think it will go together nicely with the billard table latter down the track. So this was our blank wall Monday morning...
And this was our wall Monday afternoon not looking so bare anymore.

I have lots of ideas running through my head about what I want to do with the wall space...its just a matter of finding the bits to make it happen but first I'll have to get that hubby of mine to install some door knobs and get the plumber in for the sink and tapware.

Anniversary Bouquet

Don't you just love recieving flowers?

Hubby came home with this lovely Bouquet for our Anniversary last night.

The softest pink roses

And gerberas.

Aren't I lucky!

I don't normally recieve flowers this way as I have taught my boys that its not what you spend its the thought that counts.

Normally my boys would go into the garden and pick their own roses to give to me which I think is super special!

But at the moment our gardens are still a work in progress so I was spoilt with these pretties.
Enjoy your day. xo

Raspberries, white chocolate & love ♥

I've been doing some special baking for my special person today after all it is our 13th Wedding Anniversary.

I thought I would surprise my hubby with his favourite raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake with a bit of added ♥

Topped with fresh raspberry swirls, into the oven it goes.

3 pieces of chippy timber

Don't you just love old chippy timber? I surely do and thats why I have been holding onto these planks for sometime.

I have a scrolly wrought iron planter box that sits in our sitting room next to the fireplace but the slats that run across the bottom are too far apart to put any vase or jars on as they just tip over so I thought it would be a great idea to have a planter box made from recycled chippy timber.

So my two handymen hubby & son decided to get into it on the weekend.
With a drill in hand they were on with their job

What would I do without my boys?

The finished project...
holding onto 7 mason jars,

filled with sprays of white stock.

Now I'm on the hunt for more white chippy timber so we can make a nice long planter for the dinner table.

Thanks for stopping by.

Todays treasures

I was up bright and early this morning for the favourite Sunday market and I had a ball coming home with a car load of goodies.
I found this cute lantern which needs to be rewired - comes in handy being married to an electrician!
A stunning rose bowl / trophy cup in all its tarnished glory.

Pretty portrait paintings

A beatuiful roll of vintage English wallpaper still in its original wrap.

A matching pair of French basket chandeliers, white suitcase and the portrait paintings.

A little vintage wrought iron table which I think it fits in nicely in our front sitting room.

And last buy not least this amazing pair of chandelier lamps.

Happy hunting this weekend! :)

Winter tree tops

We pass this beautiful farmhouse to and from school everyday...each day I tell myself I am going to take a photo of the beautiful entrance lined with twiggy trees and always forget to.
It will be spring before we know it so I thought I would take advantage of the winter tree tops and snap a shot while I still could to share with you all.

Its beginning to look allot like Spring time

I can't wait for Melbourne's weather to get better...this winter has been so very cold and wet. Very hard to do any work in the yards with these conditions.
But...there is good news...

The streets around us are lined with blossoming trees which means spring is just around the corner.
Spring promises loads of blooming roses for the first time in our yards...can't wait!

Something you don't see everyday!

What would you do if you saw a car full of oversized books like this?

Well this was something I stumbled on last week.

A car load of Manchester Guandian newspapers bound in amazing hard covers from the New South Wales Library dating back to the 1920s.

I will be picking up a few for myself very soon.

A simple door

These days it seems vintage doors are being used in more ways than being just a door. More and more people are using them as decorating pieces around the home which I just love. My hubby picked this beautiful solid door up as well as a few others a little while ago and they have been sitting in our garage ever since. Yesterday I thought to myself...what a shame leaving something so beautiful in a garage! So I pulled it out and gave it a good scrub.

This morning I dragged it into the house and popped it behind my wrought iron stand in our family room.

I love the chippy paint with the raw timber showing behind

And my hubby added this rusty old door handle

My quiet little corner in our family room.
