My heart skipped a beat...

We traveled around Melbourne treasure hunting today...starting out at a market and then an antique center. First I was lucky enough to find this pretty french wedding display box with crushed velvet but sadly everything else had been removed. I couldn't resist it and bought it anyway.

One our second stop I found the most AMAZING French books I have ever heart skipped a beat then and there.

I asked hubby to grab the French box I had purchased that was sitting in the car as I wondered if the books might fit and guess what? Perfect fit! Just like they were made for each other :)

Parasol from Paris

While away with my boys, a few weeks back I bought this from an 80yo lady whose aunt took a trip to France 30yrs ago and brought back this sweet antique French parasol from a Paris flea market.

The apricot tone is really very hard to photograph but its so very beautiful!

It actually has a doubled up ruffle which is very sweet...

the top being apricot and white and then other being apricot and lemon roses on the inside.

Amazing jeweled handle...

beautiful details...

Apricot ruffles...

I haven't been able to find out too much info on this piece as it seems jeweled parasol handles are pretty hard to come by...but it sure is nice to look at :)

Ottoman love

More market finds...walking through the isles yesterday I spied a lady dragging out a heavy and very huge vintage ottoman...
I saw the faded french blue silk and instantly fell in love

I had planned on putting a coffee table in this room but I think I may just live with this for a while.

I love it when I find something as unusual as this piece.

My vintage Christmas angels...

I've been thinking allot about Christmas decorating this year...sadly we need to change our tree as its going to be too high for the room I want to put it in. I don't normally change our tree decorations yearly as I have spent many years collecting German glass ornaments but this year I feel like a change...first Christmas settled into our new home and all.

So I headed over to Etsy and found these cuties...

Vintage peg doll angels...

with the prettiest handmade crochet gowns and wings in a gorgeous ecru.

These are defiantly headed to our Christmas tree this year...cant wait to start decorating!
Loads of ideas!

Manchester Guardian...a piece of history!

I finally picked up my huge newspaper hardcover bound Manchester Guardians on the weekend...

...its great having a piece of history sitting on your shelf!

I love the old timeworn spines dating 1928, 1930 & 1934.

and the discolored old pages

They certainly are big enough! :)

Thanks for dropping in xo

Repurposed window screen

Recently my wonderful hubby found this window screen on the side of a road and picked it up quick smart. He didn’t know what we could use it for but he knew I would love it and think up something to do with it. I have trained him well lol! I was ecstatic to say the very least when he brought it home and thought it would make a perfect mirror frame.

This repurposed window screen now sits in our front entrance over a scrolly hall stand.

Don't you just love making use of old pieces and giving them a new purpose?

Vintage farmhouse door

Do you love old doors? Lately I just can't seem to keep myself away from them! My old French Farmhouse style door has made its way inside to our front sitting room behind our sofa and I have to say I just love it in its new spot. Adds that shabby vintage feel to the room and makes it less prim and proper.

Today is Saturday which means treasure hunting tomorrow...can't wait to see what I find!
